Description

This defensive tower was completed in 1853, and was part of the second city wall, the innermost one. The building is 12 meters high, and has a diameter of 34. It is the only one of the two city towers. Together with the Wrangel Tower, it allowed for surveillance of the Lake Superior area and the Rossgarten Gate. The tower is one of the city's major attractions. Its majestic profile, silhouetted against the waters of the lake, attracts droves of tourists every day. The three floors of the tower can be visited, and today they house the Amber Museum.
