Palazzo Salmatoris è il più importante palazzo della città: ospitò la Sindone nel 1706 e qui fu firmata la Pace del 1631 come l’Armistizio napoleonico del 1796. La camera della Sindone -detta del Silenzio- venne affrescata da Sebastiano Taricco, importante pittore locale. Notevoli anche lo scalone monumentale e le decorazioni delle altre stanze.
