According to the legend, Ligea was the smallest of the three mermaids, united to them by destiny. She relied on the stormy sea to escape the pain of love and was transported without resistance to the Gulf of SantʼEufemia. She was found by sailors on the banks of the Ocinaro, where she was buried. ".... the route of the Ligea siren ... will be pushed by the waves at Terina." In honour of Ligea at S. Eufemia- Nicastro, in the square, a statue by the sculptor Riccardo Dalisi has been erected.
