Eyewear Museum Luxottica Group, world leader in the design, production and marketing of frames for glasses, in 1991, on the occasion of its thirtieth anniversary, opened the Museum "Ottiche e Occhiali" which houses one of the most complete collections of antique objects in the field of optics. The collection consists of more than 1200 pieces including glasses, fassamani, telescopes, microscopes, optical instruments, as well as iconographic material, prints, tapestries, engravings and paintings. There are about 700 glasses, the most precious of which date back to around 1500 and among the countries of origin are China and Persia. Among the small objects, interesting are walking sticks, fans, snuff boxes and perfume holders, all with built-in lenses. The telescopes and binoculars section consists of objects of English, Italian, Chinese and French manufacture (one of which belonged to the court of Louis XIV). Worthy of attention is the telescope by Giuseppe Componi, dated 1682, 8 metres long.
