New York
The Jewish Museum of Genoa, inaugurated in 2004 to a design by Gianfranco Franchini, is located on the top floor of that Synagogue which has seen the history of the Genoese Jews from 1835 to the present day. It preserves the works of the collection "viaggio nel mondo ebraico" by Emanuele Luzzati, donated by the artist to the Jewish Community of Genoa. The collection is exposed to the public alternating with artistic, religious or historical documentary exhibitions, set up in occasion of institutional events such as the Memorial Day and the European Day of Jewish Culture. Guided tours are organized by appointment with particular attention to school groups; for schoolchildren, in addition to the visits, there are themed lessons held by specialized volunteer staff with the intention, in accordance with the Museum's aims, to introduce the public to Jewish culture and the stages in the history of Ligurian and Italian Judaism.
