Suizo Falls in Paraguay is a free falling waterfall in Guairá, 62 meters tall. Salto Suizo (Swiss Falls) is the highest in all of Paraguay. If you are feeling fairly fit and possess some sturdy footwear you will not regret the 1000 metre hike through the tall trees and large rocks up to the 60m waterfall. Your walk through the lush vegetation will be accompanied by the sound of bird song, and you will hear the cascade of the Librada river up to 150m away. If the Salto Suizo is not enough of a challenge for you can carry on up to Cerro de la Cruz (Hill of the Cross), which rises 556 meters above sea level. A Swiss Cross adorns the top, a commemoration to the formation of the Swiss Confederacy and placed there by Swiss settlers. It’s dominant height ensures an unbroken view north towards Independencia and beyond.
