The WITS Planetarium opened in 1960 and was the first complete planetarium in Africa and the second in the Southern Hemisphere.This local icon provides a gateway to the world of science and the stars. Hosting more than 77 000 learners and adults annually, the Planearium allows visitors a visual tour of the spinning orbits and shining galaxies varying in temperature, temperament and distance that make up the Universe.
