All’angolo fra via dello Sprone e Borgo San Jacopo, fu realizzata da Bernardo Buontalenti agli inizi del Seicento, probabilmente in occasione del passaggio del corteo nuziale di Cosimo II de’ Medici, come sembra confermato dallo stemma con le sei palle proprio sopra la fontana.Dalla bocca del mascherone, una specie di fauno, scolpito in marmo e collocato sullo sprone del palazzo, esce un getto d’acqua che cade nella prima vasca, subito sotto, sempre in marmo con ampie volute laterali come fosse il guscio di una conchiglia. Da qui l’acqua tracima come una cascata nella vasca a terra, in pietra, da dove poi defluisce. In questo modo uomini e animali possono e potevano bere e rinfrancarsi.
