5 most Instagrammable places in Turkey
Although many people choose to direct their attention at Greece, Turkey is actually one of the prettiest, most photogenic countries in (/around) Europe. They have a lot of truly spectacular sites and the public is realizing it as well. More and more people are going to Turkey, thanks to all of the stunning photos you can often see in Instagram. In order to help you on your trip to Turkey, here are the 5 most Instagrammable places in Turkey.
1.Suleymaniye mosque
The Suleymaniye mosque is a mosque in Istanbul that’s truly stunning! One of the greatest things about this mosque is that it’s not as much visited by tourists as other popular mosques, like the Blue Mosque or Hagia Sofia. This means that this highlight is perfect if you want your vacation photos to be free of other tourists! You can also just take the photo, instead of having to wait until you can actually get a clear shot.
The Suleymaniye mosque is also really peaceful, which is great if you want to wander around for a bit. You can also have a nice chat with some of the volunteers there, who are always really friendly.
2.Pamukkale
Another spot in Turkey that’s truly Instagram-worthy is Pamukkale. This is a place with many beautiful pools in which you can swim or take pictures in. we have to warn you though; Pamukkale doesn’t look exactly like its pictures or the promotion posters they use. These show a lot of pools with clear, blue water, but in reality a lot of these pools are dry, which leaves just a few pools to swim in or take pictures in.
One of the best moments of the day to take photos at Pamukkale is the sunrise or the sunset. Keep in mind though that it will be especially crowded during sunset, which means that you will find less tourists early in the morning. It’s also good to know that the lower pools aren’t as crowded as the upper ones, so if you want a quiet pool, you should visit the lower pools.
3.Galerie Ikman
If you love carpets, this spot is the perfect fit for you! Galeria Ikman is a place in Goreme town that has a lot of stunning carpets on display. Although it doesn’t usually look like it on the photos, this gallery is partially outdoors, which makes it an even better spot!
When you visit Galerie Ikman, don’t just start taking photos though. You can take some stunning photos if you actually buy a carpet, but if not, you have to pay 50 lira. Then, you can take your Instagram shots for 15 minutes long. Please respect these rules, as the owners encounter far too many people who don’t respect their business.
4.Lamp shop of the Grand Bazaar
Everyone who loves shopping should go visit the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul at least once. This place has a great atmosphere and is perfect if you like to wander from shop to shop all day. Although the entire bazaar is already impressive, the lamp shops are the places you truly must visit.
There are plenty of stunning lamp shops in the Grand Bazaar in which they have their beautiful lamps on display. This makes for an impressive shot of course. However, you can’t just start taking photos here either. You either have to buy a lamp or ask them to take a photo in exchange for a payment, since it’s still a business that they’re trying to run. The lamps are absolutely beautiful though, which doesn’t make it a bad thing to purchase one.
5.Sunset Hill
In Cappadocia, you can find one of the most popular spots for Instagram photos in Turkey. Sunset Hill is located in Goreme and it’s a hill on which you can see a lot of hot air balloons ascend. Although this location is beautiful all day long, most people love it the most in the evening during sunset, as this gives the most spectacular views and the ascend of numerous hot air balloons.
Make sure you get there on time though, as it can become quite crowded, and pick out your favorite spot. Sunset Hill requires an entrance fee as well now, but this fee costs only around $5. You can even bring your own carpet if you want, so you can be comfortable during your evening of watching hot air balloons in the sky.
