Tamil people celebrate Thaipusam to pay tribute to lord   Murugan defeating an evil spirit known as Soorapadman. It is the most distinct festival in Malaysia. Thousands of bare-footed believers participate in this festival and celebrate the Victory of Lord Murugan. People carry milk pots or “Kavadi” over their shoulders from a certain place to the Murugan Temple and this series is an offering of milk to Lord Murugan. Frequently, Shark spikes of devotees are pierced through cheeks, tongues, and bodies as a practice of self-mortification.

Hari Raya Aidilfitri

This festival is being celebrated by Muslims All around the country and this is one of the most important and joyful events that take place in Malaysia by the end of Ramadan, the holy month of patience and dawn to sunset fasting. People come back from other cities to celebrate this event of happiness with their loved ones. They participate in special prayers held at mosques. Hari Raya is a festival of house visits as well as dining. Chinese New Year

All the people decorated their homes and streets with traditional red decorations according to the historical Chinese tradition of heading off evil spirits. While this event of Chinese New Year is traditionally a 15-day long celebration. However, during this period families and friends visit one another’s homes and serve each other sweets and traditional food, while Children are served red packets usually called “ang pao”

Deepavali

Indeed, Deepavali “The Festival of Lights” is the festival of Hindus which

usually happens in November. It is a Festival full of lights all over, Deepavali indicates the victory of hope and light over darkness. Hindus decorate their homes with oil lamps, light up the lamps in temples also, and make different patterned designs with colored chalk called ” Rangoli”. In Malaysia, people gather up in public places to celebrate this incredible event with greetings and distribute sweets.  Then the real celebration starts at night when fireworks start displaying. Generally, the food they eat includes samosas, jalebi, and murukkus.

Wesak Day

Wesak Day also known as Budha Jayanti is a traditional Buddhist festival in Malaysia, celebrated every year in May.  The festival commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and Passing away of Guatama Budha. Although, the event starts when Buddhists gather up at the temple to pray, distribute food and give charity to the needy. They inflate their flag and sing Melodies. While the believers dress in saffron robes, burn incense, and make prayers. Some parts of Malaysia which have a sizable community of Buddhists Decorate their homes and temples with flowers and candles.

Christmas

The Christmas festival is the most popular all over the world. It is an event for Christians and starts. Indeed, there’s no way that Malaysia would fall behind to celebrate such an important event. Christmas is celebrated in honor of the birth of Jesus Christ, it starts on the 25th of December every year.
