Situata in posizione centrale, ha una pianta trapezoidale con al centro il monumento dedicato a Vittorio Emanuele II (posto in loco nel 1881) e una colonna che porta il leone di S. Marco.
Su uno dei lati corti s’innalzano la torre dell’Orologio, risalente al XVIII secolo, e il palazzo del Municipio (frutto di vari momenti costruttivi tra il XVI e il XVIII secolo), caratterizzato dal portico a triplice archeggiatura e abbellito da un loggiato cinquecentesco. Accanto sorge il palazzo dell’Accademia dei Concordi (1814), mentre il lato opposto è occupato dal bel palazzo Roverella, costruito nel 1475 su disegno del ferrarese Biagio Rossetti.
