Lo spazioso Museo Nazionale della Groenlandia, ospitato in alcuni edifici coloniali presso il vecchio porto, custodisce mostre ben presentate con pezzi che risalgono a 4.500 anni fa. Il museo offre gallerie fiancheggiate da antichi manufatti portati alla luce durante gli scavi archeologici, artigianato groenlandese e opere d'arte locali.
Non mancate di ammirare la scultura in bronzo raffigurante il racconto groenlandese della Madre del Mare, la sala geologica dove sono esposte le rocce più antiche del mondo e la sala delle mummie che conserva tre donne mummificate del XV secolo e un bambino portate alla luce nel sito archeologico di Qilakitsoq.
Altre mostre invece mostrano la cultura Inuit e offrono una storia cronologica dell'immigrazione e degli insediamenti sull'isola.
