Datant de la Renaissance, et donc plus tardive que les autres églises de Teggiano, S. Martino a subi de nombreuses restaurations au cours des siècles, notamment après l'incendie de 1820, par Giovanni Carrano.
Le plan est celui d'une basilique, avec trois nefs séparées par des colonnes monolithiques en pierre, sans transept. Du presbytère, on accède à l'abside voûtée polygonale par un arc triomphal rond reposant sur de solides piliers.
L'accès à l'intérieur se fait par un portique à trois arcs arrondis reposant sur des colonnes lisses ; les voûtes sont croisées.
Le portail principal, flanqué de deux portes plus petites, bien qu'il ne soit pas daté, présente des formes décoratives de la fin du XVIIIe siècle ; il est formé de deux piliers reposant sur un piédestal, décoré de deux écus nobles et surmonté d'une architrave avec une frise.
Les documents historiques indiquent que S. Martino était une paroisse jusqu'en 1940.
