Oasis de verdure dans le 8e arrondissement, le parc Monceau est probablement le jardin le plus diversifié de Paris. Son parc abrite une pyramide égyptienne, des piliers corinthiens, un pont vénitien et une pagode chinoise, pour ne citer que quelques éléments dignes d'Instagram. Il a été créé au XVIIe siècle sur ordre du duc de Chartres.
On entre dans le parc par les deux grandes portes monumentales en fer forgé réalisées par Gabriel Davioud et décorées d'ornements dorés. Le parc est orné d'un grand nombre de statues en marbre représentant des Français célèbres, notamment des écrivains et des musiciens, dont Guy de Maupassant, Frédéric Chopin, Charles Gounod, Ambroise Thomas, Alfred de Musset et Edouard Pailleron. Le Parc Monceau est, entre autres, riche en nature, grâce à la présence d'arbres centenaires et de fleurs de toutes sortes. Le parc présente un intérêt particulier : la Naumachie, un bassin ovale entouré d'une colonnade semi-circulaire de style corinthien et d'une riche végétation ; et le Pavillon de Chartres, une colonnade ronde construite par Claude-Nicolas Ledoux, et destinée à l'origine à servir de poste de guet pour les douaniers.
