O tren turístico de vía estreita de St Kitts, o "Último ferrocarril das Indias occidentais", lembra unha época na que a principal industria da fértil illa caribeña non era o turismo senón o azucre. En 1775, cando os británicos eran propietarios da illa, St Kitts tiña 200 leiras cultivando "ouro branco"; a principios do século XX construíuse un ferrocarril de illa redonda, para transportar a cana a unha fábrica central. Cando a industria diminuíu, a liña reabriuse como unha forma marabillosa para que os visitantes puidesen ver as costas batidas polas ondas, as palmeiras balanceadas, as terras altas esmeraldas - que se elevan ata os 1.156 m do monte Liamuiga - e os restos desmoronados de antigas plantacións de cana. Actualmente, o tren só circula pola costa atlántica de St Kitts cun percorrido en autobús que completa o circuíto. Hai unha parada na fortaleza de Brimstone Hill, que foi construída polos británicos para protexer a súa preciosa illa de azucre.
