Attestato sul versante sud-est dell'antica cerchia muraria, il Castello de' Monti di Corigliano d'Otranto rappresenta, secondo le parole di G. Bacile di Castiglione, il «più bel monumento di architettura militare e feudale del principio del Cinquecento in Terra d'Otranto», ed è sicuramente il modello più compiuto del trapasso dalle torri quadre a quelle rotonde: il castello ha infatti impianto quadrangolare con quattro torri angolari a base scarpata e a tre livelli di fuoco, circondato da un profondo fossato.
La parte centrale del prospetto principale è caratterizzata da un corpo centrale avanzato con il portale d’ingresso sormontato da un elegantissimo balcone e quindi da tre nicchie, quella centrale con la statua del feudatario committente, le laterali con le figure allegoriche della Carità e della Giustizia. Il castello è stato arricchito nel Seicento di un prospetto barocco, evidente dalle nicchie e dalle finestre molto decorate.
