Una volta alla settimana, dopo la messa del sabato sera, i fedeli della Chiesa di Santa Maria in Vallicella (Chiesa Nuova) possono assistere a uno spettacolo molto curioso: il dipinto di Rubens intitolato Angeli adoranti la Madonna Valicelliana che si trova dietro l’altare scompare. Al suo posto appare un’icona miracolosa della Vergine che si dice essere miracolosa.
Intorno alla nicchia che ospita l'immagine, si posizionano cerchi concentrici di angeli e cherubini adoranti, mentre una lastra di rame, sulla quale venne dipinta dallo stesso Rubens una Madonna e con il bambino benedicente, riproduce e protegge l'icona sacra sottostante, ma è sollevabile per mezzo di un meccanismo di pulegge e corde.
Oggi, con un telecomando il sacrestano fa scendere un dipinto e ne fa salire un altro. L’invenzione è dello stesso Rubens.
