L’Orrido di Sant’Anna si trova a 3 km dal punto in cui il torrente Cannobino si getta nel Lago Maggiore. Nel corso dei secoli l’acqua ha eroso le pareti rocciose dell’angusta valle circostante, creando una stretta spaccatura dove le acque scorrono impetuose.
Due ponti permettono di attraversarle dall’alto: uno medievale (detto “dell'agostana”) che consente il transito solo ai pedoni, ed uno più moderno che permette il passaggio in auto. Le verdissime acque dell’Orrido, densamente popolate dalla trota fario, sono piuttosto fredde in estate (15-16 gradi) e raggiungono in inverno una temperatura di 2-3 gradi. La profondità massima è di 25 metri.L’orrido, soprattutto durante il fine settimana, è assai frequentato da appassionati di nuoto subacqueo e non solo. Le sue acque fresche sono un toccasana contro l'afa estiva.
