Alcazar of Carmona

The Alcázar rises above the Puerta de Sevilla and thus forms a virtually impregnable and fascinating fortress. With its towers and crenellated walls, this Arab fortress is among the best known monuments in the city of Carmona. Of particular interest are the Torre del Homenaje, the Torre del Oro and the Patio de los Aljibes. The Puerta de Sevilla is one of the most important Roman gates in Spain and was an integral part of the walls that surrounded the city.
