Located in the picturesque village of Altos de Chavón, the Altos de Chavón Archeological Museum features an extensive collection of archeological artifacts from the Taino culture, one of the earliest civilizations that inhabited the island of Hispaniola. The museum was founded in the 1980s and offers a comprehensive overview of Taino life and culture, with pottery, stone, and metal objects ranging from decorative ceramics to hunting tools.In addition to Taino artifacts, the museum also features a collection of Spanish artifacts, dating back to the colonization of the Dominican Republic in the 15th century. Among the exhibits are weapons, coins, jewelry, and ceramics. The museum is situated in a scenic location and offers spectacular views of the surrounding valley.
