Dette er et typisk hus i atriumstil, skønt det er ret mindre sammenlignet med andre storslåede boliger. Navnet kommer fra mosaikemblemet i tablinum, der skildrer scenen for en teaterprøve af et kor af satyrer,nu på Napoli Arkæologiske Museum sammen med andre malerier af Admetus og Alcestis og episoder fra Iliaden: alt, hvad der er tilbage, er oecus (stue), der skildrer Ariadne forladt af Theseus og en rede af Keruber. Ved indgangen til huset er den berømte mosaik med en kædet hund og message CAVE CANEM (pas på hund), typisk for andre boliger i Pompeji:denne advarsel huskes også i litterære kilder, såsom i den underholdende episode af Petronius ' s Satyricon, hvor hovedpersonen er bange for døden af den store malede hund.Dette er huset, på det tidspunkt lige afdækket (1824-1825), der tjente som model for Glaucus ' hjem i romanen af E. Bulver Lytton, de sidste dage af Pompeji (1834)
