Hemis National Park is a high altitude national park in the eastern Ladakh region of the state of Jammu and Kashmir in India established in 1981.Snow leopards may be notoriously tricky to spot in the wild, but Hemis National Park is rapidly establishing itself as a big cat hotspot. Join a guided tour and you can clamber across punishing terrain at dizzyingly high altitudes, pitching camp along the route and using binoculars to search for tracks in the snow. The best time to go is during winter, when the leopards roam lower to the ground – though bear in mind that temperatures hover around -10. Hemis is spread in the beautiful Markha Valley and Rumbak valley of Ladakh. The surrounding territory of Hemis National park is stony and quite thin soil wrap offers a weak vegetative raise. Arid alpine meadows are there in protected sites and the growth of its grass is comparatively fast in the summer months once the snow starts melting from the area. There are numerous U-type valleys which are carved by the hostile events that happened in the history. Beautiful rivers of the region and streams have put down a deep sand deposit on their respective banks. The normal altitude of the Hemis National Park is more than 3,000 meters.
