The Carafa Castle rises near the coast, on a small hill overlooking the town.Its present appearance dates back to the 18th century, when the Carafa family, feudal lords of Roccella from 1480 to 1806, restructured it and transformed it into a noble residence, the fortifications annexed to the castle lost their importance, so its abandonment began. It has a quadrangular plan with a small square courtyard, it develops on three floors connected by a wide staircase with two flights to the left of the entrance, and by a smaller spiral staircase. The element that characterizes it from the stylistic point of view is a balcony that overlooks the west side supported by shelves with anthropomorphic masks of baroque style and concluded at the top with two elements that recall the shape of two wings.Connected to the castle, but prior to it, is the tower of Pizzofalcone built not far away. The cylindrical tower, without a shoe and surrounded by a protective wall, has Angevin characters and therefore constituted the first defensive nucleus.
