The Well of Lauture

From the path of the customs, a few hundred meters after the beach of Concié and the famous carrelets, you will discover a hole dug in the rock, the "Puits de l'auture". A legend claims that two lovers voluntarily drowned themselves in front of the incomprehension of their families when they refused to get married. From the well can be heard the rumble of their screams. Then, in the Middle Ages, it was known as the Wolf Pit - or pit loubière - becauseé it was used as a trap for wolves during the battles of the lord of Didonne
