Cafe San Carlo

Under the arcades of the square of the same name in the 17th-century palace formerly belonging to the Turinetti family of Priero, there is one of the city's oldest cafes.One of the meeting places of Risorgimento intellectuals, the historic San Carlo café is most famous for its fine coffee blends.The ambiance is opulent, decorated with stucco, statues and fine marble. Two hundred years after its first opening, the city landmark Caffè San Carlo is now, after a beautiful renovation, also a bistro. It is reborn in the historic but renovated spaces and in the indoor and outdoor dehors; the one directly facing the square and from next spring also along the steps leading inside the museum, which will be transformed from a simple walkway into a location for aperitifs.Not only that. At the end of January, Scatto, the new fine dining restaurant adjacent to the café-bistrot, will also open to the public.
