Il 23 ottobre 1566 giunsero a Ferrandina i frati francescani Cappuccini, ma la precarietà del luogo scelto rese in breve tempo inagibile la dimora dei frati; pertanto nel 1615 si insediarono nel nuovo convento situato sulla collina oggi chiamata appunto “Cappuccini”. Il convento venne chiuso nel 1866 ed incamerato nei Beni del Demanio.
All’interno della chiesa si possono ammirare:
• un olio su tela (210x150) raffigurante l’Immacolata e donatori realizzato da Pietro Antonio Ferro nel periodo 1601-1634;
• una Madonna con Bambino e SS. Pietro e Francesco dello stesso autore dipinta in età tarda (1625);
