Dadivank Monastery

The first monastery built on this site was destroyed in 1145 by the Seljukids, but it was rebuilt shortly afterwards. In this period Dadivank was the spiritual and worldly center of the Vakhtangean princes and was built by four churches, a palace, a library, a meeting room, a large refectory with kitchen, but also by residential buildings for housing and economic use. In the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries it experienced a second period of flowering. Dadivank monastery is an architectural masterpiece, complete with bell tower, beautiful khatchkar and monastic cells distributed around the main church of surb Dadi, erected in the thirteenth century. During the visit pay attention to the holes in the ground, which sink into underground cisterns and chambers. Under the gavit of the main church are buried the princes of the High Khachen. Dadivank is still one of the best preserved monasteries of ancient Armenia, at least in terms of the parts that have remained of its structure.

Dadivank Monastery

This is probably the most magical place in Karabakh, although technically it can be considered a land outside the border.
