Fischhorn Castle has origins dating back to about 1200, but it underwent renovation and took its current form after a fire in 1920. The castle is located in the town of Zell am See in the Salzburg region of Austria.During World War II, from 1938 until the end of the conflict, the castle was used by the SS as a satellite camp of the Dachau concentration camp. This meant that the castle was used as a place of detention and control for prisoners and political prisoners.A notable event involving the castle occurred in May 1945, when Hermann Göring, one of the main Nazi leaders, was captured in the castle by American troops. Göring was a prominent member of the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP) and was a leading figure in Adolf Hitler's regime.After the war, the castle continued to be a private residence and is not open to the public for internal tours. However, its history and architecture still make it a structure of historical and cultural interest.
