Designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the Price Tower in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2006. The Tower was called "the tree that escaped from the forest" by Wright because the project, originally conceived in the 1920s for the city of New York, ended up being built on the prairie of Oklahoma. The structure of the building in fact recalls that of a tree, with the 19 floors that extend (like branches) from a single central pylon (the trunk), and the walls hanging from the ceilings like curtains (or leaves).
