Giske Island

Giske is an island in the Møre og Romsdal region of Norway. This island is famous for its natural beauty, its traditions, and also for its legends.One of the island's most famous legends concerns the church in Giske. The story goes that, many centuries ago, a king had asked his two sons to build a church on Giske. The older son built the church on the island, but the younger son, who was jealous of his older brother, built a pier that prevented access to the church. However, when a man who was dying asked to be brought to Giske's church to pray, an angel came to clear the pier and the sick man was able to access the church before he died. Since then, the angel has been said to protect the church and the island.Another legend tells of an old woman who lived on the island and was known for her magic and wisdom. The old lady was said to have the power to cure sick people, and many people went to her to receive her help.
