El valle de Spiti es un valle montañoso desértico y frío situado en lo alto del Himalaya, en la parte nororiental del estado indio de Himachal Pradesh. El nombre de Spiti significa "tierra media", es decir, la tierra entre el Tíbet y la India.
La población local sigue el budismo Vajrayana, similar al de las regiones cercanas de Tíbet y Ladakh. El valle y la región circundante son una de las regiones menos pobladas de la India y son la puerta de entrada a los confines más septentrionales de la nación. A lo largo de la ruta norte desde Manali, Himachal Pradesh o Keylong a través del paso de Rohtang o del paso de Kunzum, respectivamente, el valle se encuentra en la sección noreste del estado indio de Himachal Pradesh, y forma parte del distrito de Lahaul y Spiti. La sede de la subdivisión (capital) es Kaza, Himachal Pradesh, que está situada a lo largo del río Spiti, a una altura de unos 3.800 m sobre el nivel medio del mar.
