Born from one of Riyadh’s most ambitious urban projects, King Abdullah Malaz Park (KAMP) is now considered one of the largest and most refined urban parks in Saudi Arabia. Opened in 2013 after years of planning, the park covers an impressive 318,000 square meters and was designed to offer not just green spaces, but also social and cultural hubs for a fast-growing population.
The project, developed by a local architecture firm in collaboration with international landscape engineers, aimed to blend nature with innovation: gentle artificial hills sculpt the landscape, enriched by lakes, choreographed fountains, and a large central lake illuminated at night.
Highlights include:
A dancing fountain among the largest in the Middle East, with nightly water and light shows.
A 5-kilometer pedestrian circuit perfect for walkers and joggers.
Themed children's areas featuring eco-friendly playgrounds and splash zones.
A vast cultural square for open-air festivals and events.
Entry to the park requires a small admission fee, a deliberate choice to maintain a high standard of care and a calm, safe environment. On weekends and evenings, you’ll find Saudi families enjoying traditional picnics, youth groups attending summer concerts, and joggers utilizing the shaded paths.
In a country where urban growth often overtakes greenery, King Abdullah Malaz Park stands as a rare example of harmony between modernity and nature: a space of civic pride and cultural identity.
