The new world has cliffside cities too, including modern ones. Peru’s Lima sits on the Costa Verde cliffs above the Pacific Ocean. In the course of the years, Coast Verde cliffs have stood out for being an area where the occurrence of rock fall has caused damage to people who travelled either walking or in their vehicle. The route that connects six districts of the coast of Lima (Peruvian capital), it was built in 1960, at the foot of the cliff, whose geological characteristics and anthropic actions make it today, as a place of high susceptibility to such mass movements.
While most of this city of almost 11 million stretches far from the cliffs, the Miraflores neighbourhood is a prime place for tourists to admire the views from the cliffs. Down below in the Pacific are surfers and soaring above the cliffs are colourful paragliders. Tourists who want an even higher view of this city and its high cliffs can take a flying ride tandem with a pro.
