About Monti District

Monti District - Alberobello | Secret World Trip Planner

The Rione Monti district consists of as many as 1030 trulli. These are lined up along the edges of eight irregular streets that proceed to the top of the hill, on the top of which stands the church of St. Anthony of Padua, also in the shape of a trullo. Trulli of all kinds arise here, the best known however are the Siamese Trulli, united at the top but with entrances opening onto two different streets. Once connected by an external door, the story goes that they were separated as a result of a feud between two brothers who fell in love with the same maiden. Many of the trulli in this area house small stores and artisan workshops in which to do some shopping.
