Castelnau de Montmiral is a village that has remained intact over time. Impossible to resist, it has resisted the Hundred Years' War and the religious wars and remained as it was. When you find yourself in the central Place des Arcades, where the town market is held, you expect to see a horse-drawn carriage arrive at any moment. From the top of the village your gaze wanders over the rolling hillsides planted with grapes where you can venture out and stop in the local wine cellars for a glass of wine. Built around 1222, Castelnau-de-Montmiral has the distinction of being ranked among the most beautiful villages in France. The 15th and 16th century church houses the Montmiral cross, a reliquary decorated with 310 precious stones, which belonged to the Counts of Armagnac.
