Mount Carpegna

Mount Carpegna is an imposing massif located in the northern part of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, within the Natural Park of Sasso Simone and Simoncello, district of which it represents the highest point with its 1415 meters of altitude. Carpegna is a rather heterogeneous mountain, with its slopes very different from each other, composed of forests and gullies in the steep southern area, meadows, pastures and gentle slopes in the northern part.

The area is very popular from a sports point of view, there is in fact a well-equipped ski resort, a popular destination during the winter season, but also many climbs appreciated by cycling enthusiasts, one of which is the famous climb of Cippo di Carpegna, which became famous because the Romagna champion Marco Pantani came here to train, several routes for mountain biking and horseback riding. Finally, and it could not be otherwise, the Carpegna has a beautiful network of trails, composed of paths of difficulty mostly hiking, where you can practice trekking taking advantage of the beauty of the environment.

Among the routes are the 101, which goes up from the village of Carpegna, seat of the park authority, to the Madonna del Faggio hermitage, crossing the state forest and going out onto the summit meadows allowing you to admire the beautiful 360° panorama that can be enjoyed from Mount Carpegna, and the 102, which comes from Scavolino (situated on the Rimini side) and reaches the top of the mountain.
