Top of the World
The most visited place in San Sebastian is doubtlessly the Old Town. It is the second oldest neighbourhood in the city after Antiguo. It lies at the foot of Mount Urgull, protected by the sea on one side and the River Urumea on the other.Tapas and pintxo bars line the narrow streets of Donostia-San Sebastian's Old Town and Its heart is the Plaza de la Constitución, a former bullring where the Tamborrada drum festival is held.
Most of the buildings there date back to the mid-19th century. It’s a real maze of small streets lined with Pintxos bars (pronounced “pinchos”, it means ‘tapas’ in Basque) and shops. Emblematic edifices such as the church of San Vicente and the basilica of Saint Mary of Coro are also worth a visit.
