Pink Beach, or Pantai Merah or even Red Beach, is one of the most famous beaches in Indonesia. The pearl of Komodo Island is distinguished by the distinctive pinkish color of its sand, which contains fragments of red coral. The spectacle continues under the water, where snorkelers can discover shallow waters covered with coral gardens and tropical fish. Offshore, whale sharks, sunfish, giant manta rays, ghost pipe fish, clown frog fish swim. A paradise of biodiversity: Komodo is part of a protected national park, which protects a total area of about 1817 square kilometers, including the islands of Rinca and Padar. Since 1991, Komodo National Park has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and since 2011 it has been one of the New Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Komodo Island, and its very special pink beach, can be reached from Labuan Bajo by small jets or speedboat.
