Puerto Chacabuco is a port city located in the Aysén region of General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo in Chile. It is the gateway to the Chilean Patagonia area and its spectacular natural beauty such as Laguna San Rafael National Park, Chiloé Island, and Coyhaique National Reserve.The city itself is not very large but is well equipped for tourists with stores, restaurants, and accommodations. The port is one of the most important in the country and is often used as a port of call for cruises sailing along the coast of South America.One of Puerto Chacabuco's main attractions is Laguna San Rafael, a large glacial lagoon located about 150 kilometers north of the city. Here you can see the imposing glacier of the same name, which covers more than 1,700 km² and offers a breathtaking sight.Other attractions in the area include the town of Coyhaique, famous for its mountainous landscapes and fishing rivers, and Chiloé Island, famous for its cultural traditions, cuisine, and architecture.
