About Radošovský wooden bridge

Radošovský wooden bridge - Kyselka | Secret World Trip Planner

Radošov Bridge (Radošovský most) is a wooden covered bridge over the Ohře river in the village of Radošov, which belongs to Kyselka municipality. The Ohře is the same river which flows through the picturesque town of Loket and through Karlovy Vary. The bridge in Radošov is 62.5 m (205 ft) long and 5.75 m (18.9 ft) wide. Radošov Bridge was built over a ford through which King John of Luxembourg first entered Bohemia in 1310. In 1364, his son Emperor Charles IV granted the town of Ostrov (upon the Ohře River) the right to build a bridge on the site and to collect duties on rare goods imported by land, particularly from Rhineland. The trail is first mentioned in 1220. Even if the bridge was damaged by fire a number of times, it was always restored. However, the unique wooden bridge was almost completely destroyed within a few hours by a devastating fire in 1986.
