Međunarodni projekat koji je pokrenuo njemački astronom Friedrich Georg Georg Georillhelm von Struve 1845. godine, geodetski luk Struve trebao je mapirati oblik i veličinu Zemlje mjerenjem udaljenosti od Hammerfesta u Norveškoj do Crnog mora. Veliki broj tačaka triangulacije postavljen je duž segmenta od skoro 3.000 kilometara širom Norveške, Švedske i Rusije.
U Norveškoj, tačke geodezijske Struve pronađene su na četiri mjesta: Meridianstøtten do Fuglenesa u Hammerfestu, vrhovi planina Lille-Raipas/Unna Ráipásas High, Luvddiidčohkka (Lodiken) u Kautokeinu i Bealjášvárri/Muvravárri u Kautokeino. Prva je jedinstvena i vrlo popularna atrakcija, kao i najsjevernija od ovih mjernih tačaka.
Projekt je trajao gotovo 40 godina i bila je prva međunarodna saradnja u kojoj je Norveška učestvovala kao nacija. Norveške mjerne tačke dodane su na Listu svjetske baštine 2005.godine, zajedno sa 32 u drugim zemljama.
