Arctic foxes, or polar foxes, are a species of fox that lives in Arctic habitats, such as Greenland, Canada, and Iceland. They are well adapted to life in extremely cold climates because of their thick, shaggy coat, which acts as a thermal insulator.Arctic foxes are usually white or grayish-white in color during winter, while in summer their coats may turn brown or grayish-brown to better blend into their surroundings. They are nocturnal predators and feed on animals such as arctic hares, voles, birds and even whale carrion. In Hornstrandir Nature Reserve, Arctic foxes are one of the local wildlife species that can be observed during hiking or boating tours.
