Behind the sanctuary and connected to it is the 60-meter-high tower built in 1954-58 to a design by the architect Gallo of Turin. At the top of the tower there is a gilded bronze statue of the Madonna with the Child Jesus in her arms. Made by the sculptor Narciso Cassino, it is, with its 14 meters of height and its 12 tons of weight, the largest bronze statue in the world placed on top of a building. It was made using as raw material the copper of the broken pots collected in the diocese of Tortona following the preaching mission launched by Don Orione for the realization of the monument.the tower can be visited up to the balcony placed at the base of the statue.
