Since it’s such a big nation, France in Western Europe offers various camping options. Private chalets, isolated cottages, and wide pitches are just some options available at French campsites, which range from inexpensive to extravagant. However, it is essential to reserve in advance to ensure availability and obtain the best rates.

We’ve compiled a list of some of the finest campgrounds in France, where you can spend the day participating in various sports and activities before retiring to your cozy cabin or tent for the night. Take some time to go out and about; there are wines to visit in the Dordogne region, beautiful beaches in Brittany, and the Vosges Mountains to explore in eastern France.

Camping Les Tropiques

Have a blast in the tropics at Camping Les Tropiques! Having a spa on site makes this one of the most incredible campsites in France to relax in after a long day of hiking or biking. Tennis, water aerobics, and archery are just fun things to do here. Cottages, chalets, and tents are all available (some of which are handicapped-accessible), and there are many youth programs for children aged five to seventeen.

How about a vacation when the sun shines brightly, and you’re close to some of the best beaches on the Mediterranean coast? The Yelloh! Village Les Tropiques is the perfect place to leave your belongings and dive into everything the area offers. All the pleasures of a vacation by the sea may be experienced in a natural setting that spans no less than 9 hectares. A maximum of a mile separates you from the sand.

However, that’s only the beginning. The campground’s health center, the kids’ clubs, the large, well-kept camping sites, the luxurious lodging choices, and the spectacular 500 square meter swimming pool are just some of the extras that guests may enjoy. As we’ve already established, this family campground in the Pyrénées-Orientales has everything you might want.

Domaine Les Moulins, Ile de Noirmoutier, Vendée

You may be excused for mistaking the Mediterranean of the 1960s for the West French island of Noirmoutier as you cross the cobblestone causeway to get there. You’ll come across locals collecting fleur de sel from salt pans, clam diggers, and bicycles cruising through communities of whitewashed houses (refined sea salt). Located in the little town of La Guérinière, hidden from view by a dune system, lies the unique camping destination of Domaine Les Moulins. Tents, cottages, and two-story tipis are commonplace at French campgrounds instead of the permanent caravans that have been commonplace there since the 1970s. Everything has the refined elegance you’d expect from a company headed by Cartier’s previous CEO.

There includes a pool, spa, restaurant, kids’ club, pétanque, table tennis, and crazy golf. The cabins have a modern rustic decor, with plush duvets, rain showers, and fully-equipped kitchens for preparing the mussels and samphire you purchase at the nearby seafood shacks. Nothing about here is inexpensive. However, some conventional camping sites are reasonably priced. The finest part is being so close to nature that you can walk from a windmill to the beach via a path beside the structure.

Camping Le Lavedan

Camping Le Lavedan is conveniently located near the Pyrenees National Park. Cabins and chalets (some of which are wheelchair accessible) may accommodate up to six guests. Want to know how to enjoy a cheap trip to France? Choose one of their pitch sites if you want more room to stretch out and take in the view. Participate in team-building pursuits, yoga classes, and water aerobics.

Kayaking, rafting, and even hot air balloon excursions are just some of the exciting things to do in the area. Also, the Lac de Lourdes is just 15 kilometers away, making this one of the most conveniently positioned French campgrounds on a lake.

Camping Les Baleines, Île de Ré, near La Rochelle

Reached via a bridge from the mainland, this campground is located near the westernmost extremity of the island of Île de Ré. Location: On the very edge of the island, near the lighthouse, with direct access to La Conche beach and a rugged coastline. This secluded area is perfect for enjoying the outdoors and doing things like beachcombing, strolling, and birding. Add pioneer spirit to your trip by staying in a two-bedroom safari lodge.

Bot Conan Lodge, Beg Meil, Brittany

Situated in a hidden cove close to a white sand beach, this beautiful little glampsite consists of six safari lodges and three atoll tents. Two bathhouses with power showers are available, and each tent and lodge has its wooden deck, outdoor kitchen, and dining table. Campers have free access to bikes and canoes, and the trails along the cliffs begin just outside their door.

You may kick off your shoes and stay in a tent on the dunes, a fancy tipi, or a lovely chalet on the beach at one of these campgrounds along the French coast.
