Lyskamm — known as the 'man-eater' — is a formidable high-alpine ridge on the Swiss-Italian border in the Monte Rosa massif, reaching 4,527 m on its western summit. Its notorious corniced arête, prone to sudden avalanche and serac fall, demands serious mountaineering skill and sound judgment. The traverse from east to west is one of the classic challenges of the Alps, linking the two summits across a narrow, heavily glaciated spine above the Grenz and Lys glaciers.
This video follows the full east-to-west direction, typically the preferred sequence for acclimatised alpinists moving toward Zermatt. Viewers can expect footage of the exposed ridge, crampon work on steep ice, and sweeping views across Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn, and the Valais peaks.
