Chiniot Bridge

Chiniot Bridge, an iconic structure in Chiniot, spans the Chenab River, serving as a crucial link between Chiniot and Chenab Nagar, previously known as Rabwah. This bridge is not just a functional piece of infrastructure but also a historical and architectural landmark.

Originally constructed as an old iron bridge, Chiniot Bridge was known for its sturdy construction and aesthetic appeal. The bridge was relatively narrow, which posed limitations for the increasing traffic and transportation demands over time.

Recognizing the need for modernization, a new concrete bridge has been built alongside the older structure. This development enhances the bridge’s capacity while preserving the historical essence of the original.

The strategic location of the bridge, situated on a hill in the middle of the river, facilitated its construction in two segments—one on each side of the river. The east channel of the bridge features six spans, each 40 meters long, while the west channel comprises seven spans. This design not only provides structural stability but also adds to the visual appeal of the bridge.

Chiniot Bridge is more than just a crossing point; it’s a popular recreational spot for locals and visitors alike. The area around the bridge is a favored destination for picnics, offering scenic views of the river and surrounding landscapes.
