A drive from Fira to Kamari via Pyrgos, Exo Gonia, and Episkopi Gonia offers a wonderful opportunity to explore the different facets of Santorini's beauty. Whether you're interested in historic landmarks, religious sites, or simply stunning views, this route has something for everyone.
Starting Point: Fira Begin your journey at Fira, the bustling capital of Santorini. Head toward Route 3, the road that leads to the port.
First Stop: Pyrgos Follow the signs to Pyrgos, turning left at the intersection. As you approach, you'll see the imposing Kasteli, the Venetian castle that dominates the village. Pyrgos is just 1 km away from the turn-off.
Prophet Elias Monastery From Pyrgos, ascend on the southeast asphalt road to reach the Prophet Elias Monastery, which is 4.2 km away. The monastery offers panoramic views and a quiet atmosphere.
Second Stop: Exo Gonia To reach Exo Gonia, turn left at the entrance of Pyrgos and drive along a winding road beneath the castle, flanked by vineyards. The Church of Aghios Panteleimonas will greet you on your right after a few turns. Exo Gonia offers splendid views of the eastern beaches and a top view of Pyrgos and Episkopi Gonia.
Third Stop: Episkopi Gonia Descend to the main road and turn right to reach the charming village of Episkopi Gonia. Here, you can visit the Panagia Episkopi, a beautiful Byzantine church.
Final Destination: Kamari Continuing 1.5 km ahead from Episkopi Gonia will bring you to Kamari Beach, a popular spot for sunbathing and watersports. If you're up for more exploration, you can ascend from there to Mesa Vouno to visit the ancient site of Thera.
