About Mumlava waterfall

Mumlava waterfall - Harrachov | Secret World Trip Planner

One of the best spots to visit in the whole Krkonose National Park. Unique waterfall is 10 meters tall and 10 meters wide. Carved out of single piece of granite by rushing water. Waterfall is different every time you’ll see it. Different amount of water in the river makes it quite unpredictable. In the winter, it is completely frozen over, but you can still hear the water rushing down under the ice. In the spring, when the snow melts, the stream is strongest. Water is so loud, you can barely hear someone speak and the force of the water is brutal. In the summer, water just trickles down, you can jump into the river and cool down, it is very peaceful then.

Frequently Asked Questions

Mumlava waterfall is a unique 10-meter tall and 10-meter wide cascade carved from a single piece of granite by rushing water over time. It's considered one of the best spots in the entire Krkonose National Park and offers a stunning natural sculpture that constantly changes appearance.
Spring is the best time to experience the waterfall's full power, as melting snow creates the strongest stream with an almost deafening roar. If you prefer a more peaceful visit with swimming opportunities, summer offers calm, trickling water that's perfect for cooling off in the river.
In winter, Mumlava waterfall freezes completely over, creating a stunning icy formation. Despite the frozen exterior, you can still hear the water rushing powerfully underneath the ice, offering a unique winter experience.
The waterfall's appearance is highly dependent on the water level in the river, which fluctuates dramatically with the seasons and weather conditions. This unpredictability means you'll witness a completely different waterfall in spring versus summer, making each visit unique.
Yes, during summer months when the water level is low and flows gently as a trickle, you can safely jump into the river to cool down. However, during spring and winter, the water is far too powerful and dangerous for swimming.
