One of the major destinations on the Costa Brava Playa de Aro, called Platja d'Aro in Catalan, is a busy Costa Brava municipality during the summer: it is divided into three municipalities, Castell d'Aro located inland and Platja d'Aro and S'Agaró along the coast. Although less well known than Lloret de Mar or Tossa de Mar, Playa de Aro represents one of the most lively and bustling centers in this area.
It is a seaside tourist town, characterized by long beaches full of entertainment and fine sand, clean sea, and waterfront boulevards full of small clubs and restaurants. It is a favorite destination for many foreigners; in August it is possible to meet Italians on these beaches; in June and July, however, it is mostly French and Germans who frequent the area. But Playa de Aro is not a plausible destination only in the summer months; its warm temperatures mean that it can be visited at all times of the year.
What makes this Catalan municipality so attractive is its privileged geographical location, close to the sea, but at the same time connected to an unprecedented tourist, nightlife and commercial offer. That is why it is possible to have fun any day of the year, regardless of the possibility of taking advantage of the beaches: real fun is the keystone of this town, which has turned it into one of the main destinations on the Costa Brava and one of the most attractive in the entire Mediterranean.
In Playa de Aro, it is possible to combine a historical visit inside the town hall of Castell d'Aro with the nightlife that is articulated in the other two town halls: cosmopolitanism and modernity coexist with elegance along with art. In fact, the three town halls are complementary, one complements the other: if you want to retrace history or admire architectural constructions of prestigious value, you must go to Castell d'Aro; if, on the other hand, you prefer to engage in sports, experience the beach, admire the sea and its idyllic coves, or even indulge in shopping or good food, you must not miss Platja d'Aro and S'Agaró.
