These spheres, which date back to the pre-Columbian period, were cut and worked with great precision and have been interpreted in different ways by scholars.One interesting anecdote concerns the museum's so-called "gold chamber," a room that contains a large amount of pre-Columbian gold objects. The chamber was the subject of a theft in 1954, when some thieves managed to break in and steal several works of art.
